For the past few years, I’ve only done a handful of sessions downtown, with most of my couples choosing more outdoorsy locations for their engagement photos.
But this year, I’ve noticed a definite increase in the number of sessions I’ve been doing in downtown Toronto — and I’m not gonna lie — I love it.
Downtown Toronto has so many little pockets that work surprisingly well as backdrops. You have tall buildings and beautiful architecture, busy intersections with cars rushing by, and, if you’re lucky, a red streetcar making its way through the background.
I personally love shooting in the Financial District on Saturday evenings. It’s usually much quieter, which gives the area a completely different feel. There’s something about the empty streets, the architecture, and the light bouncing off the glass skyscrapers that makes the whole place feel a little more charming.
